MISSION

The Mission of WFDC is twofold: #1. To Deliver the lost from Satan’s kingdom –  “Strive to save others, snatching them out of the fire; on others take pity but with fear, loathing even the garment spotted by the flesh & polluted by their sensuality.” (Jude 23, Amplified Version);  #2. To Develop believers, the Body of Christ – “And His gifts are varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us, some to be Apostles (special messengers), some Prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some Evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some Pastors (shepherds of His flock), and teachers. His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), that they should do the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s Body, the Church.” (Ephesians 4:11-12, Amplified Version).

HISTORY

A small group Bible study with 9 people in attendance met in a home in Lake Mills back in December 1986 and became the nucleus for a new church launched on Sunday, August 2, 1987. The newly birthed Grace Community Church met in a storefront on Mill Street in what had formerly been a local hardware store. 187 excited worshipers sat on lawn chairs and lower side shelves and rejoiced when 5 grown men received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior at the end of the inaugural service!

Though GCC was to experience incredible growth and ministry for the next few years, Satan also was actively working to shut down the work God was establishing in North Iowa. After a devastating split and much “shaking and sifting”, Grace Community Church regrouped and when the Holy Spirit was embraced and the Full Gospel message and ministry was preached and experienced, the name was changed to Word of Faith Dominion Church. This name change took place on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999, and better defined and reflected the God-given purpose and vision of WFDC.

WFDC is first and foremost a WORD Church where the Living Word, Jesus Christ, and the Written Word, the Bible, are given preeminence and priority. The Full Gospel message is embraced which means we believe Jesus Christ not only saves, but He also heals, restores, prospers, and sanctifies His people. Both the fruit and the gifts of the Spirit are not only welcomed but passionately pursued.

WFDC is also a FAITH Church where God’s people live and walk by faith, not sight, and where faith works through love. With the Word of God in our hearts and mouths we believe our faith gives us access to God’s life and gives God access to our lives.

WFDC is a church that believes Jesus has given us His Kingdom not only to enjoy here and now but to exercise His Kingdom DOMINION, His authority and anointing over every situation in our personal lives and in our sphere of influence. Since our battle is not with flesh and blood we do not exercise Dominion over other human beings, only over and against Satan’s destructive works of stealing, killing, and destroying.

WFDC is a CHURCH, a Body of Believers who realize they are “called out saints”, who know their true identity is found only in Jesus Christ, and who know their calling, destiny, and giftings, and use them to serve one another.

July 5, 1998 was the beginning of the building project for WFDC and through sacrificial praying, giving, and hard work, a beautiful building has risen up on a hill just west of the town of Lake Mills. It’s lighted steeple, cross, and American flag standing on top of the hill remind people driving by on Highway 69 that both our spiritual freedoms and our cultural freedoms are blessings that came to us at great cost and sacrifice.

VISION

WFDC is not self-existent, self-serving or self-pleasing. Knowing that without a vision to serve Jesus Christ and the multitudes of hurting, searching and wounded people around us, God’s people will self-destruct and die, WFDC believes the Holy Spirit has communicated the following “Vision Points” to guide our ministry:

  • Prayer Ministry – the focus and foundation for everything we do. “My house shall be called a ‘House of Prayer’.” Jesus, Matthew 21:13
  • Full Gospel radio, TV, internet – utilizing every available technology and voice to get the Word out. “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2Timothy 4:2
  • Anointed and effective children and youth ministries – training up and releasing the Church of Today to minister Today, not just in the distant future. “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” 1Timothy 4:12
  • Healing schools, healing rooms, and healthy lifestyles – teaching people how to walk in both healing and health and to minister the same to others. “And as you go, Preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand!’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”. Jesus, Matthew 10:7-8
  • Deliverance and freedom ministries for addictive thinking and behaviors – “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” 2Corinthians 3:17. “And you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.”. Jesus, John 8:32
  • Restore, Rebuild, and Renew marriages, families, divorced, and singles – “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the LORD. Because they called you an outcast saying, ‘This is Zion; no one seeks her.’”. Jeremiah 30:17
  • Clothe, feed, and meet the needs of the poor and needy – “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and He will pay back what he has given.” Proverbs 19:17
  • Anointed leadership training –passing the torch on to trained leaders. “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 2Timothy 2:2
  • Evangelize and disciple area college and career young people, especially those from foreign nations – “After these things I looked and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples and tongues, standing before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God Who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’”  Revelation 7:9-10
